Despite effective surgery to restore gut motility, neonates with Hirschsprung Disease (HSCR) remain at high risk for developing a potentially life-threatening enterocolitis with unknown etiology. Several recent studies have suggested potential involvement of gut microbiota in the underlying pathogenesis of Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis (HAEC). These data employed the Illumina MiSeq platform within a longitudinal study framework focused on microbiomes of HAEC patients.
