This thesis examines the synthesis of four families of low-symmetry ligands and their use in the formation of achiral and chiral coordination polymers so a greater understanding can be gained in the structural and behavioural propensities that can be formed. The materials developed could be used in the separation of chiral molecules and in the sensing of alcoholic and aqueous vapour.
