Winter service for cycling through SRH Hamburg

The Stadtreinigung Hamburg carries out the winter service for cycling within the limits of its capacity on a selected route network, which has been determined by the authority for transport and mobility transition. The route network consists of various cycle paths such as structurally separated cycle paths, common footpaths and cycle paths, cycle lanes, protective strips, protected bike lanes and bicycle roads. There is no regular winter service by the Stadtreinigung Hamburg on the other cycling facilities. The residents are not responsible for winter service on areas exclusively used for bicycle traffic. The SRH secures structural cycle paths in accordance with the requirements of the Hamburg Roads Act with blunting spreading agents, primarily fine-grained gravel. According to the legal regulation, wet salt or salt can only be used for routes at road level, such as bicycle roads, cycling and protective strips, etc. This is done wherever it is operationally and logistically possible. The winter service is carried out by machine with large and small spreading vehicles. All routes are processed twice and (as far as operationally possible) also continuously. The processing starts so early that the 1. processing is carried out before the start of the rush hour or the main period of use. In addition to the cycling facilities, the Stadtreinigung Hamburg is responsible for winter road maintenance. First of all, important main roads, routes with regular bus services are being worked on.
