[Archive] The raw data is provided by INPI and comes from an extraction of its internal database from 2015, enriched with the Patstat database for some European patents. It is the database of publications of patent applications and patent grants in France at INPI (national route), and European patent applications from the European Patent Office (EPO) that enter the French national phase. The INPI patent database is available in its entirety for reuse under a license (https://www.inpi.fr/fr/services-et-prestations/bases-en-acces-libre). The data per patent includes procedure dates, French addresses of applicants and inventors, the nature of applicants, International Patent Classification (IPC) codes, and related technological nomenclatures. To protect personal data, the names and addresses of inventors and applicants (natural persons) are not included in this dataset. Each patent is geo-located at different levels according to the addresses of applicants and inventors: country, regions, departments, urban units, municipalities. These data are used in the [Patent Atlas] (http://publication.enseignementsup-recherche.gouv.fr/atlas-brevets/index.php/Accueil/fr). The objective of this atlas is to contribute to the understanding of research and innovation activity in France through a territorial analysis of the number of patents. Based on a reliable, historical corpus integrating key technology nomenclatures, the atlas answers simple questions about publications of patent applications and patent grants (what, where, how many, who?). An annual update of this atlas is planned. The data available in this open dataset have no legal value.
