Research and development in the field of environmental technology

The report describes topics and trends in environmental technology research at Austrian universities and non-university research institutions. As a basis for this, the R&D surveys of Statistik Austria are evaluated and additional research is carried out on the relevant stakeholders. The sixth updated evaluation shows the data for 2019. Compared to 2017, the number of environmentally technology-relevant R&D facilities decreased slightly to 228 in 2019. The number of employees at the research institutions has decreased by 8.2% in this period and stands at around 9,500 people. This corresponds to 14% of employees in R&D in all economic sectors. R&D activities continue to focus on climate protection, energy, waste and raw materials and resources (circular economy).

本报告阐述了奥地利高校与非高校研究机构在环境技术研究领域的主题与发展趋势。本次研究以奥地利统计局（Statistik Austria）开展的研发调查为评估基础，并针对相关利益相关者开展了补充调研。第六次更新后的评估报告呈现了2019年的相关数据。相较于2017年，2019年与环境技术相关的研发机构数量小幅下降至228家。此期间内，相关研究机构的雇员人数减少了8.2%，总规模约为9500人，该人数占全经济领域研发雇员总数的14%。研发活动仍持续聚焦于气候变化应对、能源、废弃物、原材料与资源（循环经济）领域。
