Antimony.
As a flame retardant, antimony is part of many materials that find their way into waste incineration at the end of their life cycle. This report describes the sources and waste streams of antimony in waste incineration plants and identifies possible causes of increasing antimony loads. Part of the antimony passes into the flue gas during combustion and is transferred through the flue gas scrubber into the waste water, which is gradually purified. The scheme for water emissions under the Waste Water Emissions Ordinance for combustion gas currently provides for a limit value of 0.2 mg/l antimony. The suitability of different chemical-analytical examination methods to check this limit value was investigated in a laboratory comparison test.
