A quality-controlled dataset of dissolved, inorganic nitrate+nitrite (NOx) concentrations [µmol l<sup>-1</sup>] originating from the eastern Agulhas Bank/Indian Ocean (South Africa) in March 2019 is presented here. The data were collected by a microfluidic lab-on-chip nutrient sensor (s/n 118) that was integrated into a buoyancy driven Kongsberg M1 Seaglider (s/n sg550, doi.org/10/hgwf). The ocean glider was deployed on the 14th of March 2019 in a mean water depth of 90 m at a nominal location of 26.950°E, 33.633°S, 20 km southwest of Port Alfred. Recovery took place on the 31st of March 2019 at 24.932°E, 34.923°S by RS Ellen Khuzwayo (Noyon et al., 2019). The nutrient sensor was set to sample at various time and depth intervals during the glider's deployment. NOx concentration data were collected between the 14th and 27th March 2019. The location data (latitude, longitude, depth) originate from the ocean glider sensors and were derived by linear interpolation onto the nutrient sensor time stamps. These data were collected as part of the Sustainable Oceans, Livelihoods and food Security Through Increased Capacity in Ecosystem research in the Western Indian Ocean (SOLSTICE-WIO) project (Global Challenges Research Fund under NERC grant NE/P021050/1), which aimed to investigate ecosystem health and resilience in the face of climate change in the Western Indian Ocean.
