The Online Map of Earthquake Events presents the earthquakes registered by the Rhineland-Palatinate Earthquake Service since 2000. As shown in the description of the station network (https://www.lgb-rlp.de/fachthemen-des-amtes/landeserdbebendienst-rheinland-pfalz/erdbeben-stationsnetz.html), the LER is a locally oriented measuring network, only earthquakes in the vicinity of Rhineland-Palatinate are shown. A table listing the registered earthquakes can be found <a href='https://www.lgb-rlp.de/fachthemen-des-amtes/landeserdbebendienst-rheinland-pfalz/erdbebenveranstaltungen-lokal.html?no_cache=1' target='_blank'>here</a>.:In the planning of wind turbines, distances to earthquake measuring stations must also be taken into account. The distances are necessary because the construction and operation of the wind turbines can influence or disturb the registration of the seismic signals. The possibility of installing a wind turbine within the protected areas must be decided on a case-by-case basis. If such protected areas are affected within the site planning for wind turbines, contact should be made at an early stage with the Land Earthquake Service of Rhineland-Palatinate, which is based in the LGB. The designated protection areas represent general test areas. This means that, subject to individual assessment, a minimum distance of 3 km (exclusion area) must be maintained from the seismic measuring stations and individual assessments must be carried out in the further area up to 5 km (individual case testing area). The LGB is responsible for public affairs and must be involved in planning approval procedures for the construction and operation of wind turbines.
