Atlantic Hurricane Database (HURDAT2)

What: Dataset containing hurricane location, maximum winds, central pressure, and size. The data will be applied at the zip code tabulation area or census tract level. Where: States of Florida, Louisiana, and Texas at the zip code tabulation area or census tract level. Why: Hurricane landfalls are known to adversely impact human health, these impacts are exacerbated on overburdened communities. Hurricane meteorological data can expand scientific understanding of immediate and long term impacts at a zip code tabulation data or census tract. How: The project will use hurricane data from historical to more recent years and investigate different health impacts at various time periods at a zip code tabulation or census tract level. When: The project period cover 1980-2023. We anticipate the data will be shared by 2026.
