IMOPE (National Multi-Object Building Inventory Database), launched in 2016, is the only national-level building database in France at an infra-building scale, providing comprehensive and up-to-date detailed building information to better target, decide, and act. Originating from public research at Mines Saint-Étienne (Institut Mines Télécom), this breakthrough innovation, with methods patented in 2018 by the Ministry of Economy, Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, aggregates all relevant data on existing buildings. Supported and tested daily by an active community of over 30,000 users, IMOPE results from complex geospatial processing that harmonizes hundreds of datasets, enhanced by scientifically recognized and validated predictive algorithms. Independently developed, IMOPE has been self-funded by U.R.B.S since 2019 without public subsidies or private financing, reflecting a commitment to providing reliable and impartial tools essential for supporting the energy and social transition in the real estate sector. Through tools like the National Building Observatory (ONB), IMOPE facilitates building knowledge sharing and contributes to climate and energy goals. This civil society initiative is independently funded, free from external compromise or influence, aiming to transparently and collaboratively build a more sustainable building future.
