This dataset compiles the decisions of the Cneser disciplinary body, a national jurisdiction that rules on appeals for higher education teaching and research staff, as well as students prosecuted by their institutions for disciplinary offenses, published in the Official Bulletin of MESRI between January 1, 2008, and December 31, 2022. According to Article R232-42 of the Education Code, all Cneser disciplinary decisions must be published in the BO. These decisions were read by journalists from the AEF info editorial team, and the information was manually entered by them. The dataset includes 1,288 decisions and 14 variables: 1. BO number and date; 2. Case registered under number(s); 3. Decision date; 4. Decision year; 5. Concerned institution (name retained as at the time of the facts); 6. Person involved (student, associate professor, university professor, etc.); 7. Person involved expanded title; 8. Nature of the decision (decision on the merits, stay of execution, withdrawal of appeal, etc.); 9. Type of alleged facts (see categories below); 10. Main elements of the decision; 11. Decision; 12. Link to the decision; 13. Link to any AEF dispatches; 14. First-instance local commission decision (initial sanction). In the 2008-2022 dataset, the alleged facts type variable includes 12 values corresponding to: 1. Physical or verbal violence, insults, assaults, threats; 2. Moral harassment; 3. Defamation, damage to the image of others or the institution, breaches of confidentiality, integrity, or exemplarity obligations; 4. Discriminatory acts or remarks (anti-Semitic, racist, homophobic, disability discrimination, etc.); 5. Sexist and sexual violence; 6. Damage to property of others or the institution; 7. Damage to scientific integrity and/or intellectual property, plagiarism; 8. Exam fraud; 9. Falsification of administrative documents; 10. Corruption or similar acts or financial acts (embezzlement, influence peddling, etc.); 11. Breaches of professional obligations, administrative faults, irregularities; 12. Disrespectful, disruptive, or inappropriate user behavior, insubordination. These categories are not exclusive and are separated by vertical bars when a case corresponds to multiple categories. The 2008-2022 dataset is an update of previous work ending in 2019, with the categorization of alleged facts revised to better account for sexual violence, and the overly broad category disturbance to order and proper functioning of the institution is no longer used. The 2008-2019 dataset uses 13 category values, separated by commas for multiple categories, and does not include first-instance decisions.
