Subsidies and costs for energy

In 2014, the European Commission commissioned a study on "Subsidies and costs of EU energy" from the European consulting company ECOFYS. The aim of this study is to provide an overall overview of the energy subsidies and costs of the 28 EU Member States. The Federal Environment Agency reviewed the subsidies and subsidies declared for Austria with national data and reviewed the calculation methodology for the levelised cost of electricity. The analysis shows that the subsidies and subsidies for fossil energy reported for Austria are significantly underestimated. It is particularly critical that subsidies and subsidies for fossil energy in the transport sector are generally not taken into account. With regard to the levelized costs of electricity, the experts of the Federal Environment Agency come to the same conclusions.
