Waste prevention and recycling Ashes, slags and dusts in Austria

As part of the project ‘Development of a waste prevention and recycling strategy for the Federal Waste Management Plan 2006’, an information deficit with regard to waste prevention and recycling options was identified for the waste streams ‘ashes, slags, dusts’. A current reason for this study is also the requirement of the Landfill Ordinance for the pre-treatment of carbon-rich waste before landfilling (e.g. shredder light fraction) as well as the commissioning of new waste incineration plants and the significantly increased generation of residues from the waste incineration plants.
