Data content (data file/table name, including observation index content) The 2015 China Spartina alterniflora spatial distribution dataset reflects the spatial distribution of Spartina alterniflora invasion in various regions of China in 2015. b. Construction purpose Spartina alterniflora is a perennial grass plant native to the intertidal zone along the Atlantic coast of North America. It has strong reproductive and environmental tolerance, and is widely adaptable to temperature. It has become one of the most typical invasive species in coastal wetlands worldwide. In 1979, China introduced Spartina alterniflora for promoting sedimentation, land reclamation, and beach protection. It was rapidly promoted in coastal areas in the 1980s. After nearly 40 years of continuous expansion, the population area of Spartina alterniflora has increased significantly and is currently widely distributed in coastal areas of China. Spartina alterniflora plays a certain role in beach protection, land reclamation, soil improvement, environmental purification, and improvement of mudflat vegetation coverage and productivity, but it also causes a very serious negative ecological effect. Deeply analyzing the invasion pattern of Spartina alterniflora in coastal areas of China is of great scientific and practical significance for understanding the evolution mechanism of Spartina alterniflora invasion, supporting sustainable management and protection of coastal wetlands, and maintaining regional ecosystem security.
