Dickeya zeae is a gram negative and is the causal agent of maize stalk rot, rice foot rot, banana soft rot and pineapple heart rot diseases. Additionally, we found this pathogen into the taro. Dickeya zeae was reported as a heart rot pathogen on pineapple which are coming from Philippine and Costa Rica/Honduras. These pineapples had a different origin and infected with Dickeya zeae (Sueno et al 2014). Based on this information, the analysis of complete genome of Dickeya zeae strains which are from pineapple field and a new strain from taro would be provide new species into the Dickeya genera.
