Changing-look AGN (CLAGN) are one of the most mysterious categories of AGNshowing strong variability and sudden state changes. Our search for possibleCLAGN candidates led to the discovery of 2MASXJ0817. The source is affected by avery small amount of intrinsic absorption and exhibits long-term X-rayvariability by a factor of 10 at least. The strong spectral changes in thesource are associated with intrinsic changes only (no absorption-inducedvariability was identified). We propose to monitor the source during AO21 witha total of 240 ks in a way that will allow us to probe changes in the inneraccretion flow on dynamical thermal and viscous timescales ranging from a fewks up to a year. The proposed campaign will shed light on the nature of the strong variability in this source. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
