Point-based geospatial inventory of Azerbaijan's Caspian and strategic inland water systems

This dataset provides a point-based geospatial inventory of Azerbaijan’s Caspian and strategic inland water systems. It was prepared for the research project “Satellite-based assessment of water level variability and economic exposure in Azerbaijan’s Caspian Sea and strategic inland water systems.” The inventory includes representative geographic point locations and descriptive information for selected water systems, including the Caspian Sea, Mingachevir Reservoir, Shamkir Reservoir, Kura River, Araz River, Sarsang Reservoir, Takhtakorpu Reservoir, Jeyranbatan Reservoir, Aghstafachay Reservoir, and Varvara Reservoir. The dataset is designed to support study area mapping, spatial organization of water-related datasets, and integration of satellite-based water level observations with environmental-economic exposure analysis. It also serves as a companion dataset to the previously published Caspian Sea water level variability dataset and the selected inland water bodies water level dataset. This is not an official boundary or polygon dataset. The coordinates represent approximate point-based locations of selected strategic water systems and are intended for research mapping, inventory development, and spatial reference purposes. The dataset package includes a CSV inventory file, data dictionary, source links, metadata, README file, citation note, and limitations note to support transparency, reproducibility, and reuse.
