Caspian Sea water level variability dataset for Azerbaijan based on satellite altimetry observations

This dataset provides cleaned and organized satellite altimetry-based water level observations for the Caspian Sea, prepared for the research project “Satellite-based assessment of water level variability and economic exposure in Azerbaijan’s Caspian Sea and strategic inland water systems.” The dataset is based on the NASA Global Water Monitor time-series product for target ID 000270, Caspian Sea. It includes cleaned 10-day satellite observation records, compact time-series data, annual and monthly summaries, a data dictionary, metadata, source links, and citation notes. The cleaned dataset covers the period from 1992 to 2026 and supports analysis of long-term water level variability, seasonal fluctuations, and recent changes in the Caspian Sea. The data can be used for environmental-economic research, water security assessment, coastal exposure analysis, and studies related to climate-sensitive water resource dynamics in Azerbaijan and the wider Caspian region. The dataset package includes CSV and XLSX files, documentation files, and source information to support transparency, reproducibility, and reuse.
