Slovenian Public Opinion 1999/1

The first part of the survey is a repetition of the international survey on the transition to democracy, which took place simultaneously in several Eastern European countries. The main topics of the research are understanding democracy and assessing the functioning of political institutions, economic situation, party life and elections. Most of the indicators are adapted from the standard literature of Western democracies research. The second part of the study is a repetition of continuous research into the public’s attitude towards defence readiness and military. The focus of the research is on NATO integration. The questionnaire is completed by an extensive block of standard demographic questions of the SJM survey.
