Near-term forecast of Austrian greenhouse gas emissions for 2021 (Nowcast 2022).

The near-term forecast of greenhouse gas emissions was carried out using a simplified methodology and shows preliminary emissions for 2021 of around 77.1 million tonnes. Compared to 2020, this represents an increase of 4.8% or 3.5 million CO2 equivalent. Emissions reported by emissions trading facilities increased by 6.2% in 2021 to 28.7 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. This is due in particular to increases in steel production and electricity generation in gas-fired power plants. In the non-ETS sectors, around 46.6 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent were emitted in 2021. The increase in emissions of around 4.0% compared to 2020 is mainly due to the increased consumption of fuels (+4.1%), heating oil (+9.0) and natural gas (+4.8%).本研究采用简化方法开展温室气体排放的短期预测，得出2021年初步核算排放量约为7710万公吨。相较于2020年，该排放量增幅达4.8%，折合二氧化碳当量（CO₂ equivalent）增加350万公吨。碳排放交易体系（Emissions Trading System, ETS）设施上报的排放量在2021年增长6.2%，达到2870万公吨二氧化碳当量（CO₂ equivalent）。该增长主要源于钢铁产量提升以及燃气发电厂发电量增加。2021年，非碳排放交易体系（non-ETS）领域的排放量约为4660万公吨二氧化碳当量（CO₂ equivalent）。相较于2020年，该领域排放量增幅约为4.0%，主要得益于燃料消耗量提升（+4.1%）、取暖用油消耗量增长（+9.0%）以及天然气消耗量增加（+4.8%）。
