Sensitivity to installations not compatible with the implementation of wind farms in Castilla y León. The development of certain activities, critical or fundamental, implemented in the territory of the Community is associated with the existence of dependent facilities that require consideration in order to ensure their proper functioning. To this end, a series of land is defined by its sensitivity to the establishment of wind energy production facilities: — AREAS CLOSE TO C-BAND WEATHER RADARS. Fundamental infrastructures for the prediction and monitoring of meteorological phenomena. Weather radars must be located in obstacle-free locations so that the radar signal, emitted in electromagnetic pulses in all directions (360° in azimuth) and at different elevations, is not blocked or shielded (or to the least extent possible). One of the biggest problems in the operation of meteorological radars is the proximity of wind farms. Wind turbines, if close to meteorological radar, intercept the electromagnetic signal by partially blocking the signal and also generating intense false echoes. Consequently, in order to ensure the operability of these infrastructures, servitudes associated with the C-band meteorological radars are delimited. — AERONAUTICAL SERVITUDES. Traditionally, air navigation has been based on terrestrial installations that emit radio signals to aircraft that allow their guidance, communications and surveillance. The criticality of the functions performed by these systems in relation to aviation safety requires the protection of these facilities and their emissions through aeronautical servitudes. Wind turbines are large metal elements that sometimes present conditions on air navigation systems. Aeronautical servitudes are the legal tool to ensure the compatibility of the provision of air navigation services with the planning of other facilities in the territory. * The submission of this information does not replace the relevant project environmental impact assessment procedures or prejudge the results of the corresponding impact statements.
