Moor grassland in the meadow bird protection backdrop

Grassland areas important for the protection of meadow birds within the backdrop of the carbon-rich soils (BHK50) and additional moor biotopes identified outside this backdrop.The basis for the area selection are areas in Lower Saxony populated by selected meadow birds that occur on moor grassland. Land use data were used for the selection of moorland grassland areas on the basis of data from ATKIS (2017) as well as on the basis of the agricultural field blocks (as of 2021), which overlap with the carbon-rich soils (BHK50) and additional moor biotopes identified outside these soils in Lower Saxony. The most important breeding occurrences of the target species Quail King are covered by this. EU SPAs or parts of EU SPAs with relevant meadow limicolae stocks, but whose areas are subject to large-scale natural dynamics (e.g. V01) or military use (e.g. Tinner can), are not included in this selection.The database is supplemented by areas of peat grassland outside EU SPAs, which still have significant meadow limicolae deposits.
