Blood pressure < 140/85 mmHg in type 2 diabetes - primary care, proportion (%)

Percentage of people aged 18 years and older with diabetes in primary care who have blood pressure lower than 140/85 mmHg. High blood pressure leads to an increased risk of diabetes complications such as heart attack and angina, ischemic stroke, high blood pressure, vascular narrowing of bones and eye diseases. The National Board of Health and Welfare has set as a target level that at least 65 per cent of all patients with type 2 diabetes should have a blood pressure lower than 140/85 mm/Hg. The current target level actually refers to patients with type 2 diabetes, but since the majority of patients treated in primary care belong to the sample, the target level is considered to be representative.
