Doppler Lidar - Plan Position Indicator

The anxdlppiS2.b1 datastream contains measurements of backscattered radiation and lidar Doppler from a Doppler lidar system operating as a Plan Position Indicator. This instrument is an active remote-sensing tool that provides range- and time-resolved measurements of the line-of-sight component of air velocity, also known as radial velocity, and attenuated aerosol backscatter. The Doppler lidar operates in the near-infrared and is sensitive to backscatter from atmospheric aerosol, which are assumed to be ideal tracers of atmospheric wind fields. The data were collected at Facility S2 (Bear Island, Norway, BJORNOYA, WMO 01028, between Andenes and Svalbard), which is located at the ANX site (Andenes, Norway, Mobile Facility for COMBLE) between December 1, 2019 and June 1, 2020.
