New NPP Lithuania Bilateral Consultation, November 19th 2008, Vilnius

Within the framework of the cross-border Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) concerning the construction of a new nuclear power plant at Lithuania a report was elaborated on behalf of the Umweltbundesamt. The report presents the results of a Bilateral Consultation held on November 19th 2008 in Vilnius. It contains a description of the procedures and requirements foreseen. Additional presentations and information provided by Lithuanian authorities and persons in charge for the EIA documentation were assessed. The Consultation Report concludes with recommendations related to aspects of relevance for Austria such as: Lack of technical information, missing Lithuanian nuclear safety related regulations, missing information about accident scenarios and possible releases under severe accident conditions.
